ATLANTA MOVERS

Read our reviews on Atlanta movers and moving companies

Many Atlanta homeowners rent trucks, pack their belongings, and invite friends to help them move.  Others, seeking to minimize the work and disruption of a move, outsource all or part of the work to a professional moving company.

Regulation

The Georgia Public Service Commission, which can be reached at 404-656-4501, regulates the moving industry, including pricing.  The Commission's rate structure makes purchasing moving services different from purchasing most other types of home services.  Most major home service purchases, such as a new roof or a heating and air unit, are fixed proposals.  Each company puts together a fixed proposal with a fixed price for the work before the hiring decision is made.  Unless you change the work scope, you generally pay the price quoted in the proposal at job completion.  Due to regulations, a proposal for moving is based on an estimate of the hours the job will take; it is not a fixed price.  If the job takes longer than expected, as jobs often do, you may pay more than you expected.
